I walk your journey with you and aim to create a therapy experience that enriches your life. Through therapy you may hope to feel more connected with what you really need, which can improve all aspects of your life and reduce the need for unhealthy coping strategies. I focus on insight, skills and EMDR if/where needed to reduce triggers and help process difficult past experiences. Therapy can be a powerful experience, which I would recommend for everyone at some point in their lives.

My approach prioritises safety in the therapy relationship, confidentiality, acceptance and respect of personal belief systems of the client.

Who comes to me?

Anyone looking for emotional growth, relief or change can benefit from therapy.

Some of the issues I work with often include (but are not limited to)

  • Improving self understanding (Helping to answer the question "Why do I feel this way?")
  • Reduce triggers
  • Depression, anxiety, childhood abuse and trauma
  • Change
  • Relationship and family difficulties
  • Eating disorders and eating related struggles

I also offer sessions in nature in Arderne Gardens (either walking or sitting) by prior arrangement.

How I work

I draw on different modalities. I base my thinking in a psychodynamic paradigm, where therapy includes and explores the ways in which the past informs the present. I draw on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy at times when these approaches may be particularly helpful (bearing current research in mind).I offer EMDR which can make an immediate difference for certain difficulties including reducing triggers, anxiety and symptoms related to trauma.

I am excited by current research in neuropsychology and mindfulness, which also informs my work.

The first session is normally an introduction where we get to know each other and you can ask questions and see if we are a good fit.

A small number of sessions (3-6 ) may be enough to meet the needs of some clients, others may need longer.

I claim directly from medical aids if you'd like me to and it is possible.

I also offer outside sessions in Arderne Gardens, where we can sit or walk (by prior arrangement).
