Clinical psychologists treat people with relatively serious kinds of psychological distress, like depression or anxiety disorders. They hold Master’s Degrees in Clinical Psychology and are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
I am an experienced psychotherapist, offering short- and long-term individual psychotherapy. Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers a powerful experience of understanding how difficulties in living arise and continue. Research shows that this form of therapy offers long-term gains - in addition to relief of symptoms, this form of therapy aims to develop ways of living more freely and fully, with richer relationships and increased assertiveness as a result of understanding oneself better.
In addition to psychotherapy, I supervise mental health professionals, teach Professional Ethics on post-graduate courses, and consult on issues to do with disability, especially intellectual disability.
