Choosing a therapist can be tricky. How do we know who we’ll feel comfortable with? Will they understand us? Judge us? Will we feel safe enough to open up to them about deeply personal issues? Knowing a little more about the other human being we’ll encounter could help make that decision a little easier.
After working for years in the language editing, copywriting and mental health journalism fields, I realised I was missing a sense of meaning and fulfilment in how I had chosen to spend my days. Years later, I am grateful for changing course and following my enduring passion for the human psyche, and the ability I trust we all have to learn and to change. I believe that we are shaped in complex ways by our experiences, and that we can find relief from suffering through psychotherapy.
I completed my Master’s degree (cum laude) in Clinical Psychology through the University of Pretoria, and – over the last few years – have worked with patients at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital, 1 Military Hospital, Itsoseng Community Clinic, Rahima Moosa Mother & Child Hospital, Tara Psychiatric Hospital, and Leratong Hospital.
