Clinical psychologists treat people with relatively serious kinds of psychological distress, like depression or anxiety disorders. They hold Master’s Degrees in Clinical Psychology and are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
I am a clinical psychologist based in Higgovale, Cape Town. I offer short and long-term therapeutic interventions to suit my client's needs in a supportive and confidential space.
I am comfortable working in psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural (CBT) modes of therapy and am also a fully trained eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner with experience using mindfulness-based therapy. I am aware that it is common in today’s context for clients to require time-limited interventions, in such cases I can draw on my skill-set to deliver an eclectic form of therapy suited to the client’s needs.
I work with adults, late adolescents, and couples. I have experience treating clients facing a broad range of challenges including depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, bipolar, substance abuse, personality difficulties, relationship problems, adjustment difficulties (e.g. adjusting to the end of a relationship), eating and somatic disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, and disturbances of identity. I also offer a non-judgmental and safe space for clients looking to work through inner conflict, increase self-awareness, and bolster their resilience to stress.
