Clinical psychologists treat people with relatively serious kinds of psychological distress, like depression or anxiety disorders. They hold Master’s Degrees in Clinical Psychology and are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
I'm a clinical psychologist in Cape Town. Working below Devil's Peak in Observatory, I offer individual therapy as my central focus. My approach is psychodynamic and cognitive.
I work with a variety of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, interpersonal stress and work stress, among others. I work with clients on the situational as well as historical factors, and psychological and emotional dynamics in our lives that we sometimes struggle with. I have an interest as well in infant mental health and in parent-child bonding. I also work with dreams.
Therapy can be a helpful, supportive factor in our lives, or something useful when we face specific difficulties of a kind; it depends on your situation and needs. The work is a collaborative process of discussion, problem-solving, acknowledgement and exploration
