Counselling psychologists treat people dealing with normal life challenges, such as the loss of a job or divorce. They hold Master’s Degrees in Counselling Psychology and are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
Currently we have three psychologists at My Family Practice - 1. René Pfaff completed a BA (cum laude), BA Hons (cum laude) and MA Psychology at the University of Pretoria. She has been a registered Counselling Psychologist for the past 17 years. After completing her Masters Dissertation in the area of Child Psychology she spent time at a School for Learning Disabled learners, various colleges, universities and organisations after which she started her private practice. 2. Sunette Bishop completed a BPsych, Post Graduate Certificate in Education and a MEdPsych at the University of Stellenbosch. She is registered as an Educational Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and works as a Child Psychologist. After she completed her Master’s degree at Stellenbosch she worked at the Overberg Education District as the Psychologist on the Western Cape Education Department’s Autism Spectrum Disorder Outreach Team. Thereafter she started working in private practice. 3. Louise Fischer is a registered Educational Psychologist with Health Professions Council of South Africa and practices as a Child Psychologist. She has experience in working with children of all ages in a variety of settings, as well as with adolescents and students. She believes that individuals have an innate ability to heal and develop, and subsequently reach their full potential and she would like to support children and their parents in the process of realizing their full potential.
