Counselling psychologists treat people dealing with normal life challenges, such as the loss of a job or divorce. They hold Master’s Degrees in Counselling Psychology and are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
I completed my Masters in Art Psychotherapy at the University of Hertfordshire in London in 2000. Since then I have run a private practice working with children, adults, families and professionals in both individual and group capacities for the past 17 years.
Sometimes it is difficult to express oneself in words. I have an innate passion for creating a safe space to enable people to express themselves creatively. In this way - Art becomes the bridge between one's internal and external world. However - No art experience however is needed to benefit from this modality! Through creativity people can find their deeper voice of truth, power, clarity and purpose.
I have experience with a wide variety of conditions including emotional and behavioural problems, ADD/ADHD, anxiety and depression, learning difficulties, autism, developmental delay, children refugees, trauma victims, Educators, Department of Education, HIV/Aids & orphans, Correctional Services and Psychiatry.
I facilitate various courses and workshops for both personal and professional development. See www.arttherapy.co.za for more info.
My training and thinking is psychodynamic however I have an eclectic tool kit when required including coaching, Journey therapy, archetype exploration, mindfulness, numerology etc.
