Educational psychologists work with children and adolescents, assisting in their psychological adjustment and development. They operate within the contexts of family, school, peer groups and communities, and are able to conduct and interpret scholastic and psychometric tests. They hold Master’s Degrees in Educational Psychology and are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
My professional career started in 2004 when I was employed as a Grade 5 teacher at a local primary school. While studying towards my masters in educational psychology I gained extensive experience in the field of education in various primary and high schools in Gauteng. Working as a therapist at The Leigh Matthews Trauma Centre offered me the opportunity to deal with a wide range of cases. I was also employed at a local private school as a therapist for the primary and high school learners. I work from an eco-systemic approach as the environment influence the way the client perceive the world and provoke certain feelings and behavior. I am currently working in private practice in Vanderbijlpark and am loving every minute of it.
