I graduated from UCT in 1992 with a B.Sc. occupational therapy. I have worked for the last 24 years with adult mental health concerns. As an occupational therapists my perspective is always at developing skills to assist the patient cope and feel better. I have extensive experience in the field of addiction with both the alcoholic/addict and the family. I have worked extensively with depression and severe mental illness, eating disorders and stress management. I also have an interest in helping patients come to terms and make sense of their particular illness both physical or mental. My aim in treatment is to develop an alliance with the patient that facilitates an improved level of functioning and a better quality of life. A lot of what I do is counseling but I will also incorporate a range of activities as it is indicated, as well as home visits or family sessions.
