Social workers work with individuals, as well as families and communities, to develop treatment plans for people with mental health problems. They may work either in private practice or in collaboration with other healthcare professions. They hold Bachelor’s of Arts Degrees and are registered with the South African Council for Service Professions.
I am a qualified and registered Social worker in Private Practice with almost 10 years’ experience. Although my passion lies in working with children and adolescents, I have worked with people from all walks of life.
Generally speaking, my therapeutic approach involves looking at underlying issues with the aim of personal transformation and freer, more positive living.
I am committed to supporting my clients as they work towards discovering their inner strength. It is my goal to provide an environment where my clients feel safe to share their stories and embrace their imperfections and reclaim their dreams. The length of therapy varies, depending on the nature of the problem and what the client wants from therapy. While some issues may be resolved within a few sessions, deep level change often takes time.
My main focus is socio-emotional child assessments for children aged between 4 years and 13 years of age. The assessment gives valuable information regarding the child's perception of his/her social circumstances, home and school environment as well as relationships with caregivers, family and friends. The assessment can also pick up trauma areas and possible sexual abuse. However a forensic assessment will be needed for sexual abuse cases.
