My name is Kim Abrahams, I am a Child and Family Therapist and Internationally Registered Social Worker. For the past 13 years I have been practicing social work with children and families in England and my practice is now based in Cape Town. This exposure has enabled me to provide a range of support and counselling services to children, parents and caregivers of diverse personalities, cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. I specialise in working therapeutically with children and families, as well as serving as an expert witness for the Family Courts. Removing the stigma which is often attached to mental health is very important to me and part of my work involves working closely with the media. Helping people is my passion and I regularly appear on the Expresso Morning Show as a parenting expert, as well as contributing to a variety of print articles.
My therapeutic approach primarily incorporates play therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) I enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary manner and collaborate closely with local schools, welfare organisations and NGO's.
I provide a professional therapeutic environment which is welcoming and non-judgemental. One of the key aspects I maintain in my practice is for children, parents and individuals to feel safe in their therapeutic journey and I aim to always work inclusively with families.
