Social workers work with individuals, as well as families and communities, to develop treatment plans for people with mental health problems. They may work either in private practice or in collaboration with other healthcare professions. They hold Bachelor’s of Arts Degrees and are registered with the South African Council for Service Professions.
I am a Social Worker in Private Practice with 10 years of experience in both the private and public sectors. My experience locally and abroad has equipped me to deal with people from all walks of life. I am passionate about influencing people, instilling hope and empowering individuals. I believe that every human being is fearfully and wonderfully made and my dream is for every person to have a revelation of their own uniqueness and individuality. Furthermore, I believe that hope is stronger than fear and I hope that through my interactions with clients that they will find their own inner boldness to step beyond whatever fears are withholding them to step into their God-given destinies.
Although I consider myself to be a committed Christian, I am comfortable working with clients from all religious backgrounds.
My current scope of practice includes individual counselling to adults in the areas of trauma, grief and loss, divorce, stress management, adjustment issues as well as assisting clients to cope with mild symptoms of depression and anxiety.
I am also passionate about adoption and am comfortable offering mentoring and counselling services to adult adoptees. I currently serve as volunteer on the Executive Committee of the National Adoption Coalition South Africa (NACSA).
In addition, I am currently coordinating a mentoring program for Akademia University in Centurion.
